Review of the 2025 Hoshi Maria Calendar
The photography was done by Gota Suzuki, styling by Ayako, and makeup by Jun Sato. The A5-sized desktop version has 28 pages with 25 photos, while the B2-sized wall calendar features 8 pages with 7 images. The outfits consist of 5 different styles, shot in outdoor settings with a blue sky, by a pool, and indoors. Both clothed and nude shots are included.
This marks the third calendar in three years for her, and her first major work, including a photo book, in two years.
Her posing is remarkable, with a unique hand expression that feels like it was learned somewhere—it’s vibrant and full of life, and she still carries both her charm and beauty. More than anything, though, it’s heartwarming to see her look “more mature.” Yet, this maturity leaves one wondering—what does it really mean to be an adult?
Originally, she was very active on social media, visually crafting an image of herself by posting photos from her shoots. Now, something feels different, especially when it comes to her gaze. Her captivating eyes, whether smiling or with a contemplative expression, no longer evoke the same sense of vulnerability or sexual bravado that she once conveyed. This time, her gaze feels more natural, as if it’s simply her true self shining through, revealing a tone that feels consistent throughout.
Perhaps it's the result of life experiences during her two-year hiatus, but her expressions now seem much deeper. There’s a mix of joy, happiness, kindness, anxiety, sadness, and even a touch of melancholy, reflecting a more human side of her. It’s as though a clear, major musical scale has been subtly infused with blue notes, creating a feeling that speaks to the heart with greater depth and resonance. It’s incredibly captivating.
Many people go through life without ever finding themselves. But there was once an actress who said, "That’s what I have to do—find myself." If Hoshi Maria continues her creative journey with the intent to discover who she truly is, she will remain someone we can’t take our eyes off of.
